“California Dreaming” typically evokes images of driving along the coastline in a convertible, or a lazy summer’s day on the beach. Actually, winters in Southern California can be some of our best days, as we enjoy moderate winter temperatures that allow us to get outside all year-round. So the Ron Arnold Team thought we’d share a few winter ideas for activities in and around Brea.

Holiday Ice Skating

The Irvine Spectrum Outdoor Ice Skating Rink is a great activity for late December and early January. Located next to the giant wheel on Fortune Drive, it is a great place for kids and adults to go and lace up those skates for a bit of wintertime cheer. The Irvine Spectrum Outdoor Ice Skating Rink is one of Orange County’s top wintertime destinations. It will be open until January 7, 2018 and offers a variety of options for a great adventure during the day or nighttime.

Dog Park Is Howling Your Name

Riley, Spot and River are giving you that look. You know the one. The head tilted to the side, wondering when you’re going to take them out for some fun. The Wildcatters Dog Park is a great spot for dog owners to exercise and relax with their fur babies in a controlled setting. The Wildcatters Dog Park provides grass turf, large and small dog areas, shaded seating, water fountains, and picnic tables. It may be howling your name this winter!

Where Are My Walking Shoes?

Don’t overlook the Brea Sports Park in your winter outdoor activity plans. This extensive 20-acre community developed park offers a place to get out and stretch your legs. It has multiple baseball and soccer fields, basketball courts, some practice areas for multipurpose uses, some batting cages, a tot lot, and beautiful walking trail.

Horsing Around

Have you ever had an interest in learning more about horses? At Yater Performance Riding there are many opportunities for kids and adults who are interested in all things equestrian. The performance riding school teaches all the basics in how to be a horse owner, from the ground work to riding. In fact, lessons start early for the young whipper-snappers: kids as young as three are welcome. Yater teaches interested participants in how to groom, saddle, and ride. They have a philosophy of wanting every potential horse owner to understand the responsibility and fun of owning horses. Silver and Scout would be so proud!

Escape This

We will leave the great outdoors to go deep inside an escape room. Red Lantern Escape Rooms are the largest in Orange County. You and a group of your friends can travel to the Louisiana Bayou without ever leaving SoCal. You have to solve the mystery of the restless alumni before your hour is up! Appropriate for ages 10 and up.

Home is Where the Art Is

Located in the Brea Civic and Cultural Center is theCity of Brea Art Gallery. It is a beautiful 6500 square foot space that presents four major contemporary art exhibitions throughout the year. The Gallery, which opened in 1980, offers visitors meaningful exhibitions, workshops for kids and adults alike, lectures by artists of note, live art demonstrations and a gift shop.

One of the things to look for is the world class Art in Public Places Program. It features more than 163 sculptures throughout the city, enhancing the quality of life in Brea. Just across the plaza from the gallery is the intimate 200-seat Curtis Theatre. It provides high-quality entertainment and performances all year long. Just a few steps away you will find some of Brea’s amazing restaurants and shopping, so what’s not to like?

We love Brea and its surrounding communities and would love to show you our hometown, and hope you will want to make it yours as well! Call the Ron Arnold Team and we’re happy to show you the best Brea has to offer!
